About Us
Special Olympics Virginia Area 6 is a year-round program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Area 6 is one of 31 Special Olympics Virginia area programs; it serves:
- Amelia
- Chesterfield
- Goochland
- New Kent
- Powhatan
- West Point
Thanks to a large volunteer network and the support of generous partners throughout Metro Richmond, athletes pay nothing to participate. We invite everyone to join us in our mission to open hearts and change minds about people with intellectual disabilities.
